About us

RED STICK© LIGHTS was founded by Ian Bibby just this year 2025.

Many years experience in the lighting industry creating new product often with latest energy saving technology at the forefront of creations. As long ago as 1984 he created the worlds first energy saving adaptor allowing conversion of existing B22 and E27 sockets from typically 60 watt or 100 watt lamps to the newer PL technology miniature fluorescent lamps newly released at the time and typically 9 watt. Branded as Lumidrive the product sold into wholesale electrical merchants. He subsequently created the brand Ecoled and created the first ever downlight using LED technology using 3 and 5mm white light LED’s from Nichia in Japan. The first commercial use of this technology was created by him to light the entrance tunnel for terminals 1, 2 and 3 at Heathrow London. His early experience before being in business was as a Lecturer in creative fields at Sheffield University and in Ireland. Several of his businesses have been sold on into other hands.

RED STICK© Lights is a business that creates and manufactures novel and original lighting solutions aimed at specialist areas of use. RED STICK© LIGHTS is not a typical lighting business, in fact far from it as it seeks to create simple reliable solutions which solve some common problems as well as creating more sophisticated solutions for the lighting of art and gallery spaces.

Thus the “range” is broad. From simple rechargeable lighting aimed at ease of use and control for the disabled to more sophisticated lighting control product for specialist use and limited production of “one off hand made lamps”.
